Frequently asked questions:

The language

Don't be afraid of the language of Shakespeare. We work very hard to make sure that you can follow along with the story line while preserving the beautiful language for those who love his words as much as we do.

Please note that some of Shakespeare's works feature mild profanity.

How long are the plays

Often our plays are edited down for clarity and brevity. Our shows normally run
about 2 hours, with a 10-15 minute intermission.

The staging

At Groveport Town Hall: We perform on the second floor in the ball-room. The room features an oratory stage, and we use it along with the floor space in front of it for our actors. The audience is seated as close to the action as possible.

At Groveport Log House: This is an outdoor amphitheater, with a wooden staging area and hillside seating. Please bring your own blankets or chairs. We use this venue for our summer show, with rain-site of Groveport Town Hall.

At Ravenwood Castle: Ravenwood has an outdoor theater set on the grounds of
the castle. In case of rain, the show moves into the great hall.

Please note: The seating is simple in all of our venues, just like it would have been in Shakespeare's time. You are welcome to bring a pillow or blanket for added comfort.

Family friendly

Our shows are family friendly, and the kids will especially enjoy our comedies. The shows are typically about 2-hours long, so if you bring your kids along, please make sure that they are able to sit still for that long. If you need to step outside with your kids, we ask that you choose your moment to be the least disruptive for the actors and the other audience members.

Shakespeare's tragedies are typically quite bloody, though we don't do anything
gratuitous with the violence. Again, please use your best judgement with your kids whether you think they can handle thematic violence and death.

Refreshments

Concessions are available at the performances at Groveport Town Hall and Log House. Typically we offer water, soft drinks, candy and salty snacks. Ravenwood offers dinner following the show. Reservations are required for dinner at Ravenwood.

Bathrooms

Groveport Town Hall: Both Men's & Women's bathrooms are available on the ground and third floors.

Groveport Log House: Port-a-Potties are available at the Log House.

Ravenwood: Port-a-Potty is available near the outdoor stage, and bathrooms are also located in the castle.

Places to eat

Groveport has an excellent casual restaurant - "Little Italy", which is located across Main St. from Town Hall. If you are looking for a bar, the Birch Tavern is also right across from Town Hall. Another great local eatery is Papa Joe's at the Links Golf Course (just past the school complex on Main St. turn right onto Richardson Rd. and the right into the golf course).

Parking

Parking for Town Hall is available along Main St., on Front St., or in the municipal parking lot behind the Animal Hospital and Birch Tavern.

Groveport Log House has its own parking lot, and Ravenwood has ample parking as well.
