Cast & Crew

Char Anderson (Margaret) is thrilled to return in her second Rosebriar Shakespeare Company production. She was Mrs. Prism in The Importance of Being Earnest. Studying acting and performing is truly a passion for her and without the love and support of her wonderful husband, Steve, it would not be possible. Char has performed at Columbus Children’s Theatre, Emerald City Players and sings with the Capitol Showcase Chorus of Sweet Adeline’s International.

Abram Blau (Conrad)

Stephanie Hayslip (Beatrice) Stephanie is too excited for words to be involved in "Much Ado About Nothing."  Beatrice is one of the parts of a lifetime and she is truly thrilled to be given the opportunity to dive in and play.  Having recieved her training in New York and appearing around the country, she is having a blast back in her home town.  This is her third show with Rosebriar, having appeared in both "The Merry Wives Of Windsor" as Mistress Page and "Tales Of The Grotesque; An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe" as the Ingenue.  If it wasn't for theatre she would have lost her mind long ago, so ironically enough she owes it her sanity, or what is left of it.  She sends love and thanks to her baby, her family and her cheerleaders for all their support and patience.

Jayson Hummel (Stage Manager) This is Jayson’s second show with Rosebriar, after doing An evening with Edger Allan Poe. Having managed multiple plays including Dante’s Inferno, Taming of the Shrew: Not Your Ordinary Shakespeare, and Oklahoma he is eager to rejoin the arts community. With two years managing and an additional two years directing experience for the play group Chaos Inc., he joins Rosebriar for the creation of a new and haunting production. Thanks to the cast and crew for making this return as painless a possible and to Stephen for your vision of creative pudding! Mmmm pudding!

Harlow Keith (Borachio) is the President of the Board of Trustees for the Rosebriar Shakepeare Company. and has performed for Rosebriar in Richard III, King Lear, Macbeth, Merchant of Venice, Twelfth Night, Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing among other productions. He is an Executive Producer for the Cinema Lexzikon feature film, Demons Rising and Harlow is also an Executive Producer for the Rio Films nature documentary Channel Islands-A California Adventure

Andy Kramer (Don Pedro) Hi, my name is Andy and I love acting. I've been in a few plays at CSCC and one movie called "Horrors of War" which is currently in Blockbuster.  I also have a band called The Andy Kramer Band.  We perform in and around the Columbus area right now but want to start touring in the future.  I have a painting buisness that I run full time to pay the bills.  Life is busy but I enjoy it! Praise the Lord!!

Jan Maloney (Ursula) Jan is excited to be making her acting debut with Rosebriar. She feels that she was type cast as Ursula since she is a mother of two and has been teaching Elementary school in Columbus for 28 years. It was an easy fit. She’d like to thank Kirsten for helping her with the role and all of the support from the cast and crew.

Keith Maloney (Leonato) Keith is excited to be making his third appearance on the Rosebriar stage. This time he gets to play an old man part and he feels more comfortable in this role. Especially since his first Shakespeare play and role with Rosebriar was Mistress Quickly in The Merry Wives of Windsor. Thanks always to Kirsten for her help and support with this bigger role. And thanks to the cast, crew and all of those at Rosebriar for their help and support.

Aaron Shively (Dogberry &Watch #2) Aaron is 21 now, but back in elementary school he did several Christmas plays, one of which he was scheduled to play the Dark Elf King, and kiss a pretty girl, but missed out because he had surgery. He also wrote several plays with his sister and cousin and filmed them in the basement.  As he got older he did Grapes of Wrath while he was in school at Fort Hayes, and just last season was seen on the Rosebriar stage as Seyton and Donalbain in Macbeth.  His true love (other than his wife Alyssa) is, in fact, not acting, but comic book writing.  He is the creative director of Errant Studios, along with a fellow CCAD alum.  He hopes you enjoy the show.  And he wants to join in with everyone to remind you that he is an ass.

Alyssa Shively (Hero) Alyssa has been acting since she was 6.  She is 21 now, so that means fifteen years.  Wow, now she feels old.  She is glad to be back at Rosebriar for the second show, having been in Macbeth last season.  And very glad to be a girl this time.  Her most notable previous roles have been Doris Walker in Miracle on 34th Street and Allan-A-Dale in Robin Hood, both with Enjoy Theater.  Also Officer O'Hara in Arsenic and Old Lace and a PickALittle Lady in Music Man, both with the Davis Performing Arts Center.  When she was young (and a Sims) she did plays in Obetz, and this part of town holds a special place in her heart.  When she's not on stage, she is either found at Giant Eagle working as a cashier, teaching at the local rec center, or doing her newly found job, writing comics for her husband's Errant Studios.  She hopes you come away from the show happier than you came in.

Dwight Shumway (Friar) Dwight Shumway has appeared in recent Rosebriar productions of ‘Taming of the Shrew’, ‘Twelfth Night’ and ‘the Scottish play’.  He is also active in Bread and Circus Theatre Company in Hilliard.  Dwight lives in Columbus and works at WellPoint Insurance Company in Worthington.

Amber Sims (Verges & Watch 1) Amber has been in many plays with the Davis Center of Performing Arts.  Some of her favorites were Bugsy Malone Jr., Kabuki, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Bunraku. but those are only a few of the nine plays she has done there. She has also been in Miracle on 34th Street as Susan Walker and Alice in Concert as the Mock Turtle/Jabberwock/Unicorn with the Enjoy Theatre. She has been in Macbeth right here with Rosebriar where she played Young Macduff. She has many hobbies, but her favorite things to do are act and sing!  She would like to thank Kirsten and Jayson for giving her a chance to experience some more Shakespeare, her mother and father, and her friends and family! she hopes you enjoy the show!!!

Matthew Sims (Antonio/Sexton) Matt is happy to once again be performing Shakespeare. Besides performing Macbeth with Rosebriar he originally worked directly with the Bard of Avon. During intermissions at the Globe he would do makeovers for the audience and originated the line, "Bard of Avon calling." Other roles he has taken on were Olin Britt in The Music Man with the Davis Center for the Performing Arts and Kris Kringle in Miracle on 34th Street with Enjoy! Theatre. Thank you to Kirsten for giving him this opportunity. Everyone enjoy the show. Not that that is an order or anything, if you want to not enjoy the show, feel perfectly welcome to wallow in a lack of enjoyment.

Daniel Patrick Smail (Don John) This is Daniel’s 13th performance with Rosebriar having finish An Evening With Edgar Allen Poe as the Sound Effect Man. “ I wanted to try something new, I had done the lover and comedy parts, but never something like that, but now I’m doing something else new, the villain”. Daniel first started working with Rosebriar in 2006 at 19 when he did Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet and has done all the show through all the way to Poe and now Much Ado. Now at age 22, still acting and enjoying it. Daniel has been acting since he was 5 years old, doing Shakespearean and non-Shakespearean roles and doing musicals as well. Daniel is also a former Boy Scout who reached Eagle in 2007 “I think, hehe”, Daniel is also trained in both fencing and stage combat, as well as some dancing, “We hope you enjoy the show, you as the audience, are the most important to make a show a great great show”.

Jason Speicher (Benedict) Jason Is pleased to return to Rosebriar after a year break while he ate Bread and watched the Circus.  Jason has appeared recently in Pygmalion(Freddie Hill), Not Now Darling(Arnold Crouch), for Bread&Circus Theater Company, and Macbeth(Ross) for Rosebriar.  Jason is also dedicated Fight Director. His work was seen recently in Macbeth, Little Women, Antioch, and King Lear, for which he won an award.  Jason would like to thank the wonderful cast, Jayson our awesome stage manager, Kirsten for the opportunity, and his family and friends, especially his wife whom he loves.

Matt Tilmann (Claudio) Matt earned his B.A. in Theatre from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI in April 2007.  While there, he was a two-time Shakespeare Scholarship winner.  He is recognized by the SAFD as being proficient in single sword and unarmed combat.  Some of his favorite roles include Narrator (Rocky Horror Show), Pantalone (The Servant of Two Masters), Petruchio/Benedick/Ferdinand (Bard To Go) and D.P. Forester in the World Premiere of Autumn in the Valley.  He wishes to express his sincere thanks to his Mom for ALWAYS being there for him, as well as to Ashley for her love and support and making the transition from Michigan to Ohio a smooth one!

Kirsten Upchurch (Director) Kirsten is a regular here at Rosebriar. She has been seen both onstage as Kate in Taming of the Shrew & as a director for last spring's Merry Wives of Windsor. Kirsten's has earned her BFA in Acting from Texas Christian University & her MFA in Acting from Florida Atlantic University. Kirsten is happy to be making her second appearance as a director for Rosebriar. Kirsten's passion for Shakespeare, and the history and essence of the time period give her a unique perspective to approaching the bard.
